Is the 2015 15inch MacBook Pro still a good option?

Hello,

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2015 quad core 15inch MacBook Pro fairly new with apple care plus for a little over $1000 is it worth it? I'm looking for something that will last me at least 5 years. I'm not fond of the new MacBooks with their USB c ports. Is this a fairly good deal?

Battery cycle count Is 87, quad core i7, 16gb ram, 512gb sad.

That's a good deal, and those same specs would be a lot more on a newer model, plus there would be no "iconic" lighted emblem on the back. I suggest go for it. Great battery cycle by the way.

Absolutely. That's about 50% off from a brand new one. In my book, that's well worth it. I'm also a fan of the extra ports. The USB-C is great and I'm glad they have it, but all my devices are still using 'old' ports so the 2015 version is perfect. 😃

The inclusion of Apple Care Plus is a nice addition.

I presume yours is the same MBP as mine and it's a good price, but still do check other areas for any issues just to make sure.

As of now, my batt cycle count is 214, manufacture date is 2015-05-18.

Turns out, it was too good to be true. When I checked the computer over it was the 2014 15inch and apple care was expired. I DID NOT buy it.

I own two 13-inch MacBook Pros that are early 2011 and late 2011 models, respectively (typing this from the early 2011 model as we speak). I don't think it's a bad thing to buy older devices as long as they're still in good condition. My early 2011 model I purchased brand new in May 2011, but I got the late 2011 MBP from a seller on eBay in April 2015. I love that thing, and it's easily one of the best (if not BEST) purchases I've ever made. It still runs snappily (I recently updated it to macOS Sierra) and it was my go-to laptop for my last full-time job as a Copy Editor.

Good thing you checked it over. There are a lot of 2015 MacBook Pros out there for sale, I'm sure you will find one to your likings soon enough.
