Airplay on Airport Express from MacBook Pro

I would love a Sonos speaker but cannot afford one. So I set up an older Airport Express to my speaker system and try to use airplay. My iPhone can see the Airport Express and my MacBook Pro can see it if I open System Preferences/Sounds but it will not appear Menu Bar pull down. I can see my Apple TV. TIA.

Thank you, but this is not the issue. I finally "resolved" that Apple will not allow using Airplay from the MacBook Pro as it is not just audio. That is why you must go to system preferences/sound to choose the airport express there. It is logical, but I wish Apple would still allow you to push sound to the Airport express from the Menu Bar.
