So my company recently purchased some 2015 MacBook Pro's. They ended up buying too many and have now made some of them available for purchase. Here's what they are selling:

    2015 15.4" MacBook Pro (mid 2015)
    2.5GHz
    16GB RAM
    1TB Drive
    AppleCare until September 2019

They are asking $2300 (no negotiation) for them. Do you think this is a good buy? I'd really like to get a newer 15.4" to replace my 13" but wasn't sure if I should pull the trigger or not. These are sealed an haven't been opened.

Thanks and if anyone has any thoughts let me know.

Wait! Why would you want to purchase a 2015 Macbook Pro when you can buy a 15 inch 2016 Macbook Pro for almost the same price?

Not really. The additional HD Space and Apple care would make the newer model nearly $3000.

Oh yeah! That's true. Maybe try considering the 13 inch 2016 Macbook Pro then!

Yeah, I would get the new one if I were You! You could probably get a similar spec'd model in the 13-inch for that price.

It really depends what you want. To get a 1TB drive and AppleCare on a new, 2016 15"er would cost significantly more than they're asking, so that's quite a decent price. Do you know if it's the dGPU model? That makes a pretty big difference in terms of value.

If weight, screen quality, and GPU are more important to you, you could get the entry 2016 15" model for not much more. However, you'd be getting a lot less SSD space.

    Unless you really need a 15", I'd go for a 2016 13".

Ditto. If it's an integrated GPU, for that price I'd take a pass. Though not necessarily brand new, you could also look at refurb 2015 MacBook Pros with the same specs (but with DG) if cost is a concern.

There seems to be a lot of flak when it comes to the new 15" pros. If it's $2300 dollars than it might have the dGPU, because it's about $2000 without it for that year. I have a late 2013 15" with dGPU that I paid $2500 for. If it was me I probably would grab it. I personally don't think that the touch bar is all that but that's just me.

Based on the specs you mention the 2015 model being sold is about 300-400 dollars off. It is a decent deal that seems par for the course fr last year's model
If you are not interested in the newer models the go for it

Thanks for the replies. I decided to hold off and am going to buy a newer one when they are more readily available.

I suspect you'll be happy with that choice.

Yes its a good deal. I only say that because of the storage size (1TB). Also, if ports matter to you its got a lot more than the nerved version.. That may also be a deciding factor.

Otherwise you can get a 2016 Macbook Pro 15" for the same price but with 256GB storage.
