I would have purchased had the price been slightly lesser. It is very expensive!

I like the new laptop a lot. I bought one to replace my 2012 MacBook Air, which still performs basically fine but doesn’t have the sharp screen or design chops of the PC laptops that have come out in the last two-or-so years.

MacBook Pro 13 with touch bar. I want the faster RAM for future proofing. We kept our last two Macs (first intel iMac and 2008 MacBook aluminum) 11 and 8 years and plan on the same with this one. Also got 16 gb of ram and 512 gb SSD.

I still have a 17-inch, Early 2011 MacBook Pro. I upgraded the RAM to 16GB, put the 500GB HDD in the optical bay and added a 1 TB Samsung 950 Pro SSD. In many ways the 2016 rMBP 15-inch is either a non-upgrade for me or even a downgrade. I like 1920x1200 resolution. I wanted Apple to do an edge-to-edge display and eek out a 16-inch display in the 15" body and make it native 3840x2400 resolution. I also wanted them to include Intel Optane 3D XPoint SSD storage. 32GB, 64GB RAM options would be an upgrade. The I/O is much faster in the version they released but more than 1TB is really expensive. The high price and the USB-C ports aren't the top of my list complaints. I don't understand why Apple isn't placing more blame on Intel and how they're holding back enhancements to the MBP. Their new processors are later than they promised and they haven't met low power requirements for larger RAM quantities. Intel Optane 3D XPoint is dragging -- I've recently learned this could be legal entanglements with the intellectual property.

If that's the only reason you'd be upgrading I'd say no. The other advantages are worth it though imo. It'll really just depend what you're using now, and your specific needs if the upgrade would be worth it to you overall.

    Is the touch worth it?!?

My older MBP was pre Force Touch, plus the larger size of the trackpad gave me a few problems at first. Sometimes I felt things should click when they didn't sometimes things would click without me realizing I had more than one finger on it. I've gotten used to it now though and haven't had any problems more recently.

hmmm...it's strange - sometimes the right click is very obvious and other times it feels as if there is literally no feed back from the action of right clicking...the left is even worse - perhaps it needs to go back? any one else experiencing this?

Although it is a very hard decision and I need to think a lot bedore spending tousands of dollors, I will definitely buy MBP 2016 with Touch Bar.

For me, Touch Bar is very helpful in my routine, daily tasks and Touch ID will help me login to my Mac as fast as possible. Thunderbolt 3 ports are no problem for me. Now I have a MBP 2013 512 GB i5 4GB RAM (very slow at the time of writing) and a MacBook 2016 256GB Core m 8GB RAM (not as much powerful to handle a lot of VMs which I need to work with), so MBP 2016 are great for me to use.

I just got one. I use it for dictation. And an added bonus the microphones is awesome. I might be able to dictate without an external USB microphone!!! Totally awesome.
