Cant decide between the 15.4 inch macbook Pro 2.0GHz i7 from Late 2013 (Certified Refurb) and the 13.3 inch macbook pro 2.6GHz i5 from July 2014 (new)

Both will have 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD

I will be using it for video editing for youtube, Bit of adobe lightroom and then just general use. I want the best overall laptop but im not sure on the difference in performance between a quad core 2GHz I7 and a Dual core 2.6GHz I5

Thoughts?

Well the quad-core i7 is going to be significantly more powerful. You'll probably also appreciate the extra screen size on the 15'' for editing work. My guess is that both computers are going to be capable of doing what you want but things will be smoother on the 15'' thanks to that quad-core CPU. It'll also hold up better as the machine ages.

If you are going to be doing video editing, 16GB is better than 8 by far. I own the 2014 15" with dual graphics and the 512GB SSD Flash, and I couldn't be happier. I only bought entry level models before that, and I regret it.

If both are the same price I would go with the 15inch because of the quad core processor. However the 13 inch is still a great machine and more portable if that is a concern for you.
