2013 13 inch Macbook Pro Retina 128 gb 4 gb ram

I have the above machine and I connect it to a super drive for a class I teach. I have to start and stop the dvd. When I start it back it skips some frames and the picture has trouble catching up with the audio for a few seconds. Do you guys think I need a different machine or one with a different configuration. Help me out guys!

Well we just got new dad's the old ones iwouldn't work trying to rip it. It would only rip one or two of the chapters because it was a deal where you have to prompt it to go to the next chapter each time. I will have to try it with this one.
