Problem Updating Macbook Pro Firmware

I have been getting an update for Macbook Pro EFI Firmware version 2.7 since joining the OS X Beta Seed Program.It downloads successfully but when it asks me to restart, the Mac shuts down with a beep sound and does not turn back on until I press and hold the power button of a few seconds.The sam update is showing up again in the updates list no matter how many times I install.

Have you logged in to the OS X beta seed program and reported it?

I had the same problem when my Mac was running on OS X Snow Leopard.Had the same EFI Firmware update but it was a different version.
