Just got home from Best Buy and their sale and saw a nice MBP with 13.3 inch screen 500GB HD and 8GB of memory for $1,129.00. It had some great features and all I needed being my first Mac.

I will be sleeping on it and maybe pull the trigger next week. What does anyone else think?

I would go for it. You can't go wrong with a MacBook Pro. I've had mine for 4 years and it still runs like new. Everyone I know with Windows PC's 3-4 years old are having issues already. Get your Mac and switch to the full Apple lifestyle, you won't be sorry!

I know Keith and I wanted to when I was there but I am the kind of person who has to think on it believe it or not when I am shelling out the much money. Heck I could have gotten a new iPad 4 and not even think about that...:)

To borrow a phrase from sport shoe ads... Just do it. :D

That's going to be sometime before that happens and I know about the PC deal but I have had mine that I have now as my desktop fpr 2 years and it was custom built by a well known company and I have never had any trouble with it. In time I will switch over but for now a MBP and then go from there.

Why do you want a Mac in the first place? I use PC's at school, and am happy with them. Still using a 5 year old netbook at home when I need a PC. Only reason I ever bought a Mac was my other job...but I don't do anything with it that I couldn't do with the PC - I'm not a video, music, or image editor.

If you just want it because it's a Mac, you really need to consider the $$$$. $1200 today for a MBP that will last you 4-5 years. $700 today for a PC that will last you 3, and another $700 in 3 years for the latest, greatest that will last you another 3. Weigh it hard, my friend.

Take out the card and swipe it. You wont regret it. I just bought an Air and I couldn?t be happier. You might want to consider that new ones should be out soon, but if you are not one to embark on the never ending chase of the having the latest, go for it. Great value. OSX rocks, this I say after 7 years on Windows.

I love my Mac... switched in September 2010... looking back now, I wonder what took me so long to pull the trigger. One note though, if you were pricing at BestBuy, understand that they have a sale going on now - $150 off the regular price of all Macs... so waiting until next week will cost you $150 (not to rush you decision)...

There is nothing wrong with that. It's your time, your decision and your money. Just keep in mind that the sale will end at some point...:)....so use the time, decision and money wisely...:D

The Apple Store Specialist was actually the one to to tell me not to worry about making a decision today as they are always on sale and I could more than likely get that price nest week as well.

I was in a similar place as you just over a year ago, and heres a tip. best buy usually offers and exclusive model, where it has all the above specs that you mention, except it has a 750GB hard drive. thats the machine that I'm typing this on right now. I'd inquire, its only $50 more for 250 more GB, worth it IMO

I appreciate that but I am not worried about 500 over 750GB hard drive as I can tell you now I will not come anywhere near filling the 500GB. I have a 500 in my PC now and have over 2 years more than half free space. Thank you though for the mention.

I was talking to 'D earlier about this and we spoke about getting just a MacBook not a Pro but going to the Apple website only available is either the Air or a MacBook Pro but no MacBook anymore that I can find. He has just a MacBook that he said he would get again if his died and that was a thought with me but i suppose not the case for me. Either the Air or the Pro.
