Is it helpful to have a MacBook Air 13-inch in terms of making Philosophical Thesis?

Please help me to convince my parents to deal with this thing, although I know this laptop can be sure of help on my thesis and to other personal apps but are there any encouraging statements that my parents will agree to my intention?
