If the toshiba is an external (USB) drive, make sure it is properly formatted. By default, OSX can't write to NTFS (windows) formatted drives.

If the toshiba is an external (USB) drive, make sure it is properly formatted. By default, OSX can't write to NTFS (windows) formatted drives natively.

There are utilities to add that functionality.
