Can I use HMT451U7AFR8C-RD from Mac Pro (Late 2013) in a non-ECC PC motherboard as non-ECC RAM?

My friend lives in another country and I want to give him this memory. His mobo is GA-Z77-D3H that "Support for non-ECC memory modules" and cpu is i5-2500k (without ECC support).

in my experience worst that will happen is the computer will have a error and wont boot until its removed or it just wont register the ram.
