Default Are some / all of Apple's software update servers down.

I am on a Mac Pro with 10.7.5. everything is working as usual, including full access to the Internet.

But, when I try to run Software Update. It reports back that the file on the update server cannot be found.

"Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem."

"The file “index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog” couldn’t be found on the server “swscan.apple.com”."

When I try to ping the update server by name, the ping times out.

    " ping swscan.apple.com
    PING p01-swscan.apple.com.akadns.net ( 56 data bytes
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3"

The only thing that has changed is that I manually ran Pacifist and installed the Pro Codecs because the software was not installing as expected.

    Anyone have a thought?

It's possible that Apple could be experiencing server-related issue.
