New Iphone Sim card Bypass??

Hi everyone I'm new here. So my Dad got an upgrade of an Iphone 4s in Ireland and he gave it to me. I'm living in Spain at the moment and I have a Spanish Sim card. The phone is obviously locked to O2 which is my Dad's Irish network and it won't let me activate the phone so that I can use it. What I'm wondering is if there is anyway to bypass the activation at the start long enough so that I can jailbreak and then unlock the phone so that I can use my Spanish sim card? If so I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance

Have you asked the carrier if they would unlock the phone? I doubt you'll be able to bypass the activation.

Yeah but it will take 7-10 days and I rather not wait that long!

I heard the phone needs to be unlocked to jailbreak anyway, just not certain on that. You can't bypass SIM activation without jailbreak. I know that much.
