Hi I've got an iPhone 4 version 5.1.1, I don't know much about jailbreaking however the person I bought it from had jailbroken it for me to unlock it to all networks, I'd really like to update it but not sure how I would go about the jailbreak? Would really appreciate some help/advice on this. Many thanks x

U can jailbreak an iPhone 4 on 6.1.3. Update thru iTunes then jailbreak. Easy

The 6.1.3 update for iPhone 4 is only semi-untethered meaning every time you reboot you'll be in an unjailbroken state until you hook it to a PC/Mac and run a program to restore the jailbreak.

So what I would do is stick with 5.1.1 and jailbreak using Absinthe 2.0.

That's a bit of irresponsible advice without first ensuring he has an IMEI unlock rather than one of the older unlocks. Updating like you suggested would update his baseband and remove such unlocks.
