ello,
Is it true that you can't restore a jailbroken iPhone 5 from 6.1 to 6.1. That even with blobs you have to update to 6.1.2?

I haven't seen anything to let you restore to a non-current iOS since 5.1.1.

Usually the dev team blog released a version of redsn0w when the opportunity is available: Dev-Team Blog

I thought you could use redsnow to restore to an older firmware if you have the older blobs saved. Otherwise there would be no point in saving the blobs, right?

no not now, maybe sometime in the future, however, it doesnt look all that promising currently as one of the few people actively working on it thinks that its far too troublesome for the "average user"
downgrading is currently a pipedream for a5 users, and nothing at all currently for ios6 (except a4 and below users)

ups. Yes and no.

If you're unable to downgrade, saving the blobs is pointless, yes. But, this is only true if you're always unable to downgrade. If you're unable to do so now, while the blobs are available, so you skip it. Then, in a few months it becomes possible and you didn't save them. In that scenario, it's no longer pointless.

The point is to ensure it's possible if/when an option is available.
