Been Jb since day one- been into iphones and jailbreaking since the original iphone in 2007... Anyway, running an iphone5 with auxo, activator, barrel, bolt, browserchanger, chromecustomization, f.lux, folder enhancer, gtrends widget, lockinfo, weekillbackground pro, zephyr, zeppelin, %hooks law, and bitesms.

My available memory drops 200mb (from avail 715mb) and then slowly leaks down to about ~280mb total avail after that... Any idea on how to decide whats causing this awful memory leak? Folderenhancer and lockinfo were the last tweaks i added

    Thanks in advance-

Start deleting your jb apps/tweaks one at a time, delete the most recent first, and work your way back in time until you don't see the issue - and that should identify the culprit.

when I view my stats using SBSettings, I only see that I have like 88mb of Available Memory.. this on a 32GB 4S...

after closing out all my open apps, the avail. memory went up to 220MB.

    What is 'available memory' anywayz?

my "storage" says I have 19.5 GB available..

Memory and Storage are 2 different things. Just like it computer may have 500gb hard drive but 4gb of memory. Same thing with iPhone

so what's "normal" as far as available memory on a 32GB 4S running iOS6?

Take the total available memory and subtract 100-150MB for OS operations.
Since the 4S has 512MB of memory, that would mean around 400MB free.

The gb size does not matter whatsoever on memory.

Ok.. so a 16GB, 32GB and 64Gb phone all have 512 MB of "RAM"?

Yup, that's for all 4 and 4S models. Read up on it if you wish.

That's sounds right. It runs constantly in the background so obviously it will drain the battery and kill memory

I've been watching it for about the last hour. No memory leaks, and battery draw is a normal 6mA when idle. Auxo is safe, at least on my 5.

Start using it. Memory leaks can happen from things going on in the background. The heap calls can also be from actions called while you're working without the proper heap release.

Watching it for an hour isn't exactly a thorough testing.

I try to stay away from useless stuff like Barrel, whenever people go tweak crazy and install everything under the sun there's always going to be problems. No way for the devs to test the millions of combo's someone can put on their phone..

Also if your phone is working fine it shoudn't be an issue, try not to get too hung up on available ram..

Thanks- in the end it was lockinfo5. I switched back to isx and no more mem leaks- yes i know some of the tweaks are purely for the novelty of having them-

    Thanks everyone!

I keep my free memory displayed on my status bar all of the time, so I constantly see how much is left. There hasn't been any memory leaks or issues since I've started using Auxo vs what I've seen happen for the last few years. I don't use many tweaks, though, so my phone stays pretty well behaved.

After using it for a few more hours since my original post, there is still 563MB of free memory. I still say that it's fine, my heaps are being good.

dunno what to tell you then Tanbam. It seems to be the fix for most, although not in this case either.

    Heap calls? What!?

Memory leaks come from incorrect programming practices. Don't worry about the details too much. The part of memory that can be called on and used is called the heap. When a program doesn't give the memory back to the heap when it's done using it, it becomes a leak. Apple started using a system that takes care of that automagically so programmers don't have to keep track about a year ago. Was that enough so that it made sense?

What setting do you turn on in sbssettings to see your memory usage like you all are talking about.

Just drop the sbsettings window down. Do this by sliding your finger along your status bar. The information is all there.
