I have an iPhone4 that I just had Rogers (Canada) unlock so that I can use a Straighttalk SIM card when in the US.

They told me that I had to Restore as new in ITunes and that the phone is now unlocked.

How do I verify that the process actually worked? I will only have the new SIM card later this week.

Well when I unlocked my phone, after I restored, iTunes told me my phone was unlocked.

Just restore as new as instructed. At the end of the restore you'll get the message shown Laelipoo's post above. You can then restore your phone from the backup you should have made prior to restoring as new.

So you'll get this message after restoring as new without the SIM card being inserted?

You must have some SIM inserted when you restore as new. After the unlock, it shouldn't matter what SIM, but you have to have something.

Just restore with a SIM card inside and your set.
