Need more info to help u out. What iPhone do u have? What iOS is it on? What carrier?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 6.1 on orange UK

Ring orange they will probably unlock it for you free if you are out of contract. It takes a couple of days and all that's required is for you to sync your phone with iTunes when you get the nod from orange.

Phoned orange. I'm on PAYG so will cost £130.

Look online for a hardware unlock. Won't be free but should be a lot cheaper than $130. Also look in eBay as well. Good luck

I would rather have written instructions as I find these easier to follow.

Honestly the free unlock is more hassle than its worth anyways
Find the cheapest (but respectable) one you can

Managed to get my phone handset unlocked for free without jailbreak. It can be done, you just need to do some searching round.

I took it to my fiancé's old work place and they did it for me
