Jailbreaking iPad 1 advice

Hi,
I've just bought a iPad from a mate and he's never jailbroken or anything. Now I have it I want to jailbreak it. I've jailbroken my phones for a while but never owned a pad till now.
Can I use redsn0w to jailbreak the iPad like I did my phone? It's running 5.0.1 (same as phone) but wanted to check with you guys as not 100% pads are same routine as phone. Also I take it you have to put into dfu first right?

All the same. Just use redsn0w and follow the on-screen instructions.

Yes, all you need to do is run the latest version of Redsn0w and because you are running 5.0.1, it will be untethered. So you will laughing. Redsn0w will prompt you at the beginning when you need to go into DFU mode. Good luck and enjoy. Wish I could jailbreak my new iPad. Well I will be able as soon as the jailbreak devs release their new jailbreak utility. Can't wait!!
