Hey all, I have a iphone 4 running 5.1... i read that it can be jailbroken but it would have to be a tethered jailbreak. i'm having some difficulty doing the jailbreak... before i upgraded to 5.1 i had the jailbreak applied. well now i got bored being stock and whenever i try to go into dfu mode my computer doesn't recognize it and i end up having to restore my phone. am i doing something wrong? or did i read wrong? i'm using redsn0w to jailbreak.

thanks!

i'm confused.. are you currently jailbroken?

regarding your DFU issue; restart your computer and try again

also, you should be using the latest version of redsn0w to JB 5.1 on the iPhone 4 (RedSn0w 0.9.10 b6)

Also when I try again and I'm still stuck trying to get into dfu mode, is there anyway to fix my phone instead of restoring again?

Yah I've done it before. I go back and forth all the time between jailbreaking and being stock. I also applied the jailbreak to both my sisters phones. Never had any issue going into dfu mode before. Could it be an issue with my phone?

could you possibly tell us exactly the process you are doing and where the issue is? (step by step)

I open redsn0w and this pops up. Could this be the reason why?

Once I plug my phone in I get to this screen

Then turn the phone off and push next. I follow the instructions on the screen but it doesn't detect my device...

and you know that you are supposed to plug your device in first then turn off etc..?

also, the fact that the Mobiledevice.dll could not be loaded could be the issue. i would google about this and see if there is a fix out there

You need to open command prompt in the x64 folder of windows seven and move the .dll to the appropriate folder... You have to do it though command prompt? The GUI will jot work properly!
I ran into the same problem a while back with another
Program... When I get home I'll try to update my response with exact folders and stuff!

Does itunes recognize your iphone once you get in DFU mode?
If itunes pop ups message window that says your iphone is in recovery mode, try to run redsn0w with compatibility and administrative privileges.

I had it set to service pack 3 but when I go back into redsn0w the same error message comes up. My computer does recognize my phone though.
