Do I need to restore my 4s on version 5.0.1 to jailbreak it? Like does it matter if it has stuff on it like apps and music?

IF you currently are on iOS 5.0.1 you can jailbreak the device (untethered) right now. however, if you ever have to restore the device, for whatever reason, you will have no choice but to update to 5.1. currently there is no jailbreak for the 4S (tethered or untethered) on iOS 5.1
