Complete Newbie Questions

My brother gave my sons his old iPhone 3GS to use as an iPod touch. In the process of wiping the data from his phone, somehow he messed up the SIM card reader. The phone will not allow me to go past the "No SIM Card detected" screen.

The phone is a 3GS;
The iOS is 5.0.1
The BB is 05.16.05

What can I do to get this working like an iPod touch. I do not care if the BB gets messed up, because I have no intention of actually using it as a phone.

Sorry to post such a basic question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Halz,

The iPhone has to be activated once to use it as an iPod Touch ... go here for instructions on how to do it. Make sure that you are using any SIM card from the same carrier of the phone unless it was unlocked. If unlocked, any SIM card will work.
