Just an FYI, I read on iPhone Dev's twitter to leave the VPN password blank and just click next.
I restarted my computer, re-downloaded the redsnow file and now I am stuck at "Creating backup..." where as before it only took about 3 minutes. It's been about 10 minutes or so now.iPhone 5 16GB - 6.1

I'm on verizon. 9A405 is the old 5.0.1, which you still get if you update over wifi. If you restore it again via itunes you'll get 9a406. Carrier shouldn't matter.
Yes, leave all passwords blank. - 01-21-2012, 12:55 PM #57

I also don't know if 9A405 or 9A406 matters. I just tried restoring and itunes updated it automatically and it worked. The restore alone may have been all it needed.

How long does the "cinject -w" part take? Its been like 20 minutes and it keeps doing something with date and time settings...
I don't do the VPN thing until its fully runs its course, right?Last edited by Ydennek.noj; 01-21-2012 at 01:20 PM.

So for those of us that the iPhone 4S is our first iPhone, now that we are jailbroken, how do we go about finding/getting tetherme, mywi, etc. ?
Also for those that have those programs what are your thoughts on the tethering programs and how do they compare? - 01-21-2012, 01:28 PM #66
how do you know when the -w step is done and when to do the VPN?

Ok, so I think I have figured out why we are having problems and how to solve it. It worked for me anyways.
After the back up is completed, see if you're getting a FATAL error. If so, restore your device as new or erase all content from your device and start the process over.
After doing that, it worked perfectly. I have Cydia and just have to do a restore to get my information back.
Hope this helps!iPhone 5 16GB - 6.1

The best way to do this is to do a reset first erasing all content and data. Follow the steps to jailbreak and once jailbroken do another reset but this time only select reset all setttings. Once the phone comes back restore from back up using icloud. Now you will have all your data back but still be jailbroken.
