I've been out of the iOS game for a little while (like 4 months or so)...what is the status of the iPad 2 Jailbreak? I mean it's been out since April and we don't even have a tethered version yet? Is Apple getting better or are the devs getting weak?

There was one for 4.3.3 and only 4.3.3. The reason there isn't one, even a tethered one, is because the iPad 2 and 4S use the A5 which has a new bootrom, the exploit that makes the old ones tethered is a bootrom exploit, which is patched in the A5.

As for why there is no non bootrom jailbreak right now, in iOS 4.3 and up Apple implemented ASLR, which makes it extremely hard to find userland exploits.

Didn't the devs *claim* they found like 5 exploits in the A5 at one point? The lack of jailbreak is the reason I sold my 4S and got an unlocked Galaxy SII from the UK.

No. They said 5 exploits are needed for an untether in iOS 5+. They /had/ the 5 exploits but they got patched between when they said that and when iOS 5 was public.
