Unlock and update to ios 5: need advice

Hi all:

I've got a 3GS running BB 5.16.02 iOS 4.3.3 (AJ2). it's neither jailbroken nor unlocked

I would like to A) update it iOS 5 and B) unlock the phone

My question: in what order should I do this and what steps will I need to take?

I don't want to have a tethered jailbreak so I don't want to use the current redsn0w. Do I need to preserve this BB or am I ok to update it. And if so to what?

There's no untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 yet. Also, that baseband you have right now is not unlockable.
