You need to use redsn0w for this but it will be a tethered jailbreak (so you'll need to do it every time you reboot). Plenty of tutorials about (e.g. youtube com/watch?v=TYLiKl10wus). Good luck.

Currently there are no untethered jailbreaks for newest firmwares. I think the last one was 4.3.3. Hopefully the next tethered one will be for ios5 which should be released in about a month.

just stay on that firmware...iOS 5 is coming soon. one more beta hopefully then the gm release. usually we'll see it at the end of august of early september.
