Not any more. Since Apple has released 4.2.9, they are no longer "signing" or activating any iOS version prior to the current version. If you had 4.2.8 installed previously and used a utility to save your "blobs", you could restore from that... but since you didn't, you cannot go to 4.2.8.

Hank you can download 4.2.8 and in iTunes do a shift + restore and select the 4.2.8 that you downloaded and restore that way. I did it last night. But if 4.2.6 is still working, I see no reason for the OP to upgrade.

Last night you probably could but I am sure HankAZ is right that Apple have stopped signing now and if you saved your blobs you can.

True you can go through those steps... but the phone won't activate now, as Apple is not signing that release. Same for anything prior to 4.3.4 on GSM iPhone4 or 3GS

Well I might be slightly confused. Tomorrow, my daughter is coming over. She has 4.2.8 and are you saying I will not be able to JB her phone with Sn0wbreeze??
