I always use redsn0w because it always works for me

Basically, RedsnOw for jailbreaking, Snowbreeze for unlocking.

They're really pretty different. Redsn0w you use to jb a firmware you are already running; Sn0wbreeze you use to jb a firmware and then you update to that firmware (essentially being Pwnage Tool for Windows users).

If you don't need to unlock or preserve your baseband, redsn0w is usually recommended.

Ahhh that's gd then I used the snowbreeze to JB my iPhone 4 on O2 with no problems to version 4.3.3 and I love biteSMS it's worth it just for that, but I'm a noob when it's comes to JB!
