need help on my 3G

Hi everyone,

even though its my first post but im not really new to this forum. i did fair amount of my iphone researching here whenever i need them.

but i cant seem to find the exact answer i need this time

i have a jailbroken/unlocked iphone 3g with iOS 3.1.3, it has been running reallly slow recently and freezes quiet frequently. i thought i will just update to the latest jailbreakable iOS and jailbreak/unlock it to see if it can fix the problem. but i read that iOS 4 would make it hard/impossible to unlock, and i also remember iOS4 was very slow on my 3g and i eventually downgraded back to 3.1.3.

so I am wondering which iOS i should use if i have to unlock it?

Actually, I think 3.1.3 is the iOS most recommended for a 3G. Have you installed a lot of jailbreak apps and tweaks? That might be what is causing your slowdown/freeze issues. You might just need to pare down your mods to make it run lean and mean.
