Restore jailbroken iPhone from 4.3.1

I wanted to restore my iPhone back to its factory settings. I went to erase all my settings and data from the iphone settings.
Now it's taking forever to start up (its at the loading phase)

Did I screw it up? should I have used iTunes to restore?

I think I found a solution: I put it in DFU mode and connected to iTunes.
Now its restoring and updating to 4.3.3.

You don't need back your files,apps,music...？
i-funbox or iTong?
