UK iPhone - unlock?

Hi,
Boss bought iPhone in UK (he visitied wrong site thought could not buy unlocked in Canada anymore) that was supposed to be unlocked only to find it would not accept Canadian sim card. Any suggestions? Is there an unlock for a UK phone? Thanks

Where did he buy it from? Only phones in UK from the Apple Store are unlocked

We need a little more info what model? what firmware? what baseband? The phone can be unlocked by JBing it first then doing an unlock but depending on the baseband it might be easier to just sell it online and buy an unlocked one.
