Newbie needs help to unlock 3G

I just got a 3g iphone that I would like to use on T-Mobile.
Version - 4.2.1 (8C148)
Modem Firmware - 05.15.04

Can this be unlocked? If so, is it something a newbie can do on their own? And are there some step by step instructions that I could follow.

It can be unlocked but there are some cautions to the process. You will also need the iPad 3.2.2 firmware to do it. You need to jailbreak first and then unlock so go to iClarified - Apple News and Tutorials and look for the tutorials for iPhone then under jailbreak look for the method you want to use for 4.2 make sure you read the caution and understand what it means. Then JB it, if you can't get the 3.2.2 firmware PM me and I can get it to you. After you've followed the instuctions and you're JBen go to the unlock tutorial and follow that.
