For me the most important reason I would JB my iPad would be to remove all backrounding apps.

VLC would be along the same lines as 3gunrestrictor. You can't buy 3G unrestrictor in the app store either.

My point being you pirate something the app store does NOT sell.

Yes it is always worth it and if you ask me it's better on the iPad right now since it's tethered on 4.2 The phone is used more than the iPad, well it is in my case. So it's alot easier when you need to reboot it.
