Have an jailbreak question.

Here's the deal I had/have 3GS that has shsh files backed up on Cydia since 3.0 the phone is now updated as 4.2.1. But due to an issue I was having I purchased a 4.0 with 4.2.1 already downloaded from Apple on it.

My question is can I jailbreak this iPhone 4 with Redsn0w without any issues even though it has not been broken through Cydia? And will I have any issues acquiring any or all of my apps through Cydia for this new phone?

You can jailbreak but only tethered for now. Depending on what apps you had, they may or may not be updated for 4.2.1, but it sounds like your 3GS was already updated too?

The 3GS was not jailbroken on 4.2.1 sorry I forgot to mention that.

so far the iphone4 is only tethered right now for 4.2.1. hopefully soon an untethered jailbreak will come!
