Apple replaced my 3GS with a new one

Apple replaced my 3gs with a new one from the back.

My question is that that got replaced was a Fido. i am no longer with Fido and have gone to Telus. Is the phone factory unlocked. Can I just stick my telus sim in and lauch itunes.

Also I dont know what firmware is on there. Can have it forced to install 4.1.

Currently the phone they gave me is not charged.

Charge the phone then pop in your telus sim and see if it works.

Got the phone, took it home and popped in my Telus Sim card and it is working fine. So I guess it is not an ulocked phone but a unlocked sim phone...
