I have to restore my iPhone 4.. it was running 4.0.1... and it was jailbroken and I have my blobs saved....

In order to do the restore.. I have to upgrade... how do I keep this from happening, the phone is in dfu mode... was the only mode I could get in into...

I haven't restored it yet... I'm still in limbo.. waiting for answers

Download 4.0.1 and save to desktop. When you restore (hold "shift" restore) point iTunes to the 4.0.1 fiel on your desktop. IF your shsh are saved it should be fine. Then reJB.

wait! At first u have to modify your hosts file, after restore!

No, you have to edit the hosts file BEFORE you restore 4.0.1.

Modify the hosts file, then do like igoslow said.

Do NOT listen to rmark, 2 threads now hes given completely wrong info...

i think you must do something with the latest version of tiny umbrella to preserve your baseband if you want to retain or rely on the ability to unlock.

nah thats just to save the shsh.

If shsh is saved, when iphone needs restored, demands it, or you just want to restore it, do this.

#1 and important. EDIT HOST FILE
#2 locate your 4.0.1 or whatever version ipsw file (download it if you dont have it)
#3 Open itunes
#4 press SHIFT on the KEYBOARD and click the RESTORE button in itunes
#5 point it to your ipsw
#6 wait

if error 3194 you did not edit the host file correctly, GOTO #1

#7 if error 16xx this is ok
#8 plug in iphone and open tinyumbrella and kick it out of recovery mode.
#9 done
