Unlock 3GS on iOS4.0.1

I searched the forums and could not find any "newer" posts in regards to unlocking a 3GS on iOS 4.0.1. I remember reading that you now can? Can some one correct me if I am wrong..If I'm not point me in the right direction, if you can.

Once JB, go int Cydia and search / install ultrasnow to unlock.

GR, everytime I go to install it says could not activate cellular data..Even though I have full bars AND on wifi.

EDIT : says completed, how can I verify that it is unlocked?

You have to put in the apn settings after you unlock it for the new carrier, automajic settings only work for official carriers......

You verify the unlock by putting a different sim in and try making a call
