iphone 3gs update from 3.1.2 to 4.0.1 3194 problem

well i was trying to restore my iphone from 3.1.2 to 4.0.1
my phone is locked at AT&T (i have sim card)

Just to know my cydia craches and i don't save my shsh files i don't download something like "MAKE MY LIFE EASIER"

and i can't access my iphone via WinSCP (since i din't install the app from cydia which winscp needs)

thats because 4.0.1 isnt being signed anymore. You have no choice but 4.0.2 and wait since you didnt make your life easier

as you said apple stop sings 4.0.1 firmwares.
a team or a guy created a new server to sing your firmware (saurik's server).

just go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
open with notepad
and add that line:
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

But then you say

So you did push the make your life easier or used tiny umbrella. Your shsh didnt just automagically appear there
