I'm thinking if it gets released it will be released after the next minor software revision.

No idea, but i'm of the belief that if they keep withholding jailbreaks because they want to wait for the next software patch, they may as well give up and let apple win - cos hell, if i owned apple, i'd tell them to keep making statements about minor patches soon to come.

A tuallu, according to both @musclenerd and @comex, both of the iPhone Dev_Team, a jailbreak for "all devices running iOS4" will be released in the near future. So keep your fingers crossed.
