What is mobile substrate ?

I jailbroke my iPhone 3gs and installed a program called my 3g , which let's you trick all your apps into thinking your on wifi instead of 3g thus enabling programs like skype and orb to work on 3g . Now when it updated and installed mobile substrate it seems to be causing me major problems . Anyone know what this does ?

how does that happen? so I know when it does what to do
