Jailbreak problem

I have been using a 3G iphone that had been successfully jailbroken for a while. Today when I updated my itunes version that I had, I "lost" my phone. I was advised that I needed to "re jailbreak it" and re-install Cydia. I did this using online guidelines. The entire process went smoothly, but when I reopened my phone, Cydia had not been reinstalled on the springboard. Any advise?

Why dont you just restore to new and rejailbreak ?
