new here. jailbreaking issues help please

ive been trying to jailbreak my iphone 3g for 2 days i have a pc and i unzippped redsn0w 8.0 and firmware 3.0 and it doesnt everything correctly and retrieves the jailbreaking data. once its done the phone comes on but there is still no cytia or icy and in the about screen it still shows the original firmware what am i doing wrong? thanks for the help

i'd recommend updating to OS 3.1.2 and running blackra1n. any reason why you are choosing to stick with 3.0 OS?
