Do I have to restore first before using Blackra1n?

Question. I have 3.1.2 on a never Jail Broken 3gs. Do I need to restore my phone before installing Blackra1n and JBing?

Ok. JB super easy. I installed Cydia. No problem. Thanks to all.

Is installing and using apps from Cydia easy and intuitive? I definitely want to install SBSettings, Backgrounder and Winterboard and probably Categories. Are these all stable and pretty easy to use?
