iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw does not open

I was not able to download the 3.1.2 update directly through ITunes so I downloaded the direct link via Firefox. When I double click the .ipsw file it does not open. How do I get ITunes to recognize it as a download and update my IPhone?

Can't you just click update in iTunes to update your phone to 3.1.2? You can also find all Apple OEM firmware at iclarified.com just search for OEM firmware I think.

I think my internet connection was to slow for ITune's so I successfully downloaded the update (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw) directly. I now have the update on my desktop. When I double click it and direct ITunes to open it, nothing happens. How do I get ITunes to recognize this download and begin the update?
