JB 3gs i phone3.0 firmware update

Hi can someone clarify this situation for me. I have a 3gs i phone that's running 3.0 firmware. it was JB with purp1e rain. has been running great.When the upgrade to 3.1 then 3.2 it was suggested not to upgrade until the pawn tool came out or black rain. do to the unlocking issue.My question is I don't care about the unlocking I'm on At&t I just want the JB. I'm still running 3.0 firmware. Is there any benefit to upgrade to 3.2 and if I do, all I have to do is upgrade the i phone to the latest firmware (jump from 3.0 to 3.2) then use blackrain and JB it again. Thanks for some input

Do you have a 32GB? Would you be willing to trade a 3GS for a 3GS? Mine was upgraded to 3.1 by apple without my concent and i want 3.0 back for JB and unlock.

I was in exactly the same situation as you are.

Thankfully, somecreated Mac used Pwnage Tool and create me a custom firmware to upgrade to 3.1.2 while retaining my unlock AND my jailbreak.

Are you on Mac or Windows?

Okay, first things first - I suggest you download an application from Cydia FIRST called "AptBackup". Click "Backup" and then sync your iPhone to iTunes.

Let iTunes create a backup as well.

If he doesn't care about unlocking then follow LVCIFER's steps but you don't need the custom firmware just upgrade and use blackra1n. It will remove any possibility currently of unlocking.

Yes thats correct since u r on ATT, u dont need to worry about the unlocking
