Jailbreaking 2G iPhone HEADACHE'S!!! HELP!!

I am sooooooo frustrated!!! I have tried and tried and tried to jailbreak my 2G iPhone!

Here's my steps...

2G iPhone (without sim)

I plug in using resn0w software and follow the on screen instructions.

everything goes OK...Until the "reboot" screen and then Windows activates the install wizard for the DFU??? It asks me to locate the software for the "new found device" when I hit cancel, it sits at the "waiting for reboot" screen and does NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP!!!

I don't understand...When Window's prompts me to select software for DFU, I'm supposed to select the IPSW file? I thought that it was already done on step one in the redsn0w window???

I just did this for a friend of mine. First time jailbreaking. Worked like a charm. Forgot to unlock though, had to got back and do that. Just follow the instructions.

On the window with the browse button, you need to select the ipsw that tramain has so graciously shown you the way to.

Then select to only install Cydia. (icy really isn't that great). Throw the phone into DFU mode, and then redsn0w is supposed to take the wheel from there.

Once done, you can unlock, install, and all other desirable ideas you've had.
