3GS Stuck In DFU Mode! Help Please

Ok, im trying to get my iBEC and iBSS files via iClarified's instructions. I got the first file I needed, now I am trying to do the second restore process to get the second file when you start out in DFU mode. iTunes will not let me restore until I update via iTunes Update Server. That will make me update to 3.1, right?
