Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.0. Is this correct?

When I jailbroke firmware 2.2.1 i used QuickPWN . As much as i understand if you used the current version of iTunes without using yellow snow you locked you to a service provided. Or made it impossible to unlock the phone. I dont really understand what it is. Quick explation would be handy.

Do I have to use redSnow instead of QuickPWN as its not ready for PC to jailbreak 3G iPhone with the 3.0 firmware??

I don't totally understand what they say below but the snow is for unlocking and jailbreak?

Redsn0w 0.7 is released for Mac & Windows, with Redsn0w 0.7 you can jailbreak & Unlock iPod Touch 1G, 2G 3.0 & iPhone 2G 3.0. However You can only jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.0 but can?t unlock for that you need to wait for Ultrasn0w.

Do I use the Russian version or wait for the Dev Team?

yellowsn0w unlock iPhone3G

purplera1n for the iPhone3GS jailbreak

QuickPWN only for pre iPhone3G with OS 3.0

How long is the wait for the final 3.1 firmware to be released
as I'm hate losing the JB every firmware update.
