Missing icons

Hi guys! I was using a jailbroken phone on firmware version 2.1 just fine, until I decided to upgrade to 2.2. Now I probably went about it the wrong way, but now a lot of my icons are missing (namely the ones that were in folders via categories). I've tried erasing my settings, restoring it via itunes, and then re-jailbreaking again, and none of that worked. So I come to you guys for help. How can I get these icons back? Installer and Cydia are hidden away somewhere, I don't have dock installed, nor do I have openSSH. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Restore via iTunes but do not use a backup. You need to start from scratch.
