Question jailbreaking a 2G iphone with 2.2

I have an iphone 2g, it is jailbreaked in version 1.1.4 (4A102) i dont know the method used becouse it was a gift, i also know it is unlocked but i dont know how it was unlocked, i want to jailbreakit in firmware 2.2, but i dont want it to get locked, i dont know if that could happen, any sugestions? wich would be the best way to do this?

I would try to restore the phone using the restore option in itunes and follow the instructions on how to use quickpwn after the update. It went very well for me and the instructions were easy to follow. I used the instructions posted in the how to section of the iphoneblogs website and was surprised at how well the jailbreaking and unlocking went. For 2.2 it was much the same but you will need to get the new ipsw file and the new quickpwn for 2.2. I am not sure what the result would be if it was unlocked by the means of a hardware unlock. Are you on tmobile?
